Earthquake Rattles Los Angeles

4.6 Magnitude Temblor Strikes West of Malibu

A light 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck west of Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:47 p.m. and was centered several miles northwest of Malibu, California. The earthquake rattled residents across the Los Angeles area, sparking a flurry of social media reports.

The quake was felt as far away as Ventura County to the north and Orange County to the south. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The earthquake is a reminder that Southern California is located in a seismically active region. The region is home to the San Andreas Fault, one of the most active seismic faults in the world. Earthquakes are common in the region, and residents are encouraged to be prepared for the possibility of a major earthquake.
